Serious quality Prosecco from historic hillside vineyards of boutique winery ‘Le Colture’ in the heart of Valdobbiadene.

The Le Colture winery produces some of Italy’s best Prosecco and sparkling wines.

The winery has been in the hands of the Ruggeri family since 1500 and specialises in making high quality sparkling wines.

Today, the property and business is run by Alberto and his sisters Veronica and Silvia, under the tutelage of their father Cesare and uncle Renato, who pride themselves on their wealth of winemaking experience, knowledge of the territory and an inborn sensitivity for the health of the vines and the quirks of the cellar.

The bottles that leave this vineyard each year are the result of a close knit family collaboration, with each member directly involved at every stage of production from vineyard management to the final phase of shipping.

The Ruggeri family own all their own vineyards in the very heart of Valdobbiadene, the homeland of Prosecco.

This is a huge benefit in terms of consistency of style as well as quality and price.

The vineyards are on the warmer, southwest facing slopes of Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, the heart of Prosecco production, in the province of Treviso, Italy.

Because of the steep terrain, hand harvesting is necessary, allowing the selection of the very best grapes.

Vines are old at 30-35 years old, so provide lower yields of grapes which make for more intensity of flavour and concentration.

The area surrounded by stony, clay-based soils which allow an excellent water retentions.

Mild fresh summer and cold winters makes possible the creation of wines with ultra distinctive personalities.

The family is using more and more environmentally friendly ways of working, such as solar panels to further utilise natural resources.

The name ‘Le Colture’ means ‘cultivation’ and reflects the care taken at all stages of the viticulture.
