THE WINES
CÔTE DE NUITS-VILLAGES CLOS DU CHAPEAU MONOPOLE
Clos du Chapeau is a monopole, consisting of 1.5 hectares of vines in Comblanchien, on the plain. This is the southern end of the Cote de Nuits, whose quarries offer glimpses of the limestone beneath. Tasted from bottle, Clos du Chapeau having been bottled before the 2024 harvest, as usual. Assertive bright raspberry fruit, enlivened by aromas of woodland and nettles. The palate is poised on the entry with a building sense of volume. Reticent and sinewy — understandably given its recent bottling — with a herbal streak. 100% destemmed.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES 1ER CRU MONT DES OISEAUX
This white limestone plot is located inside Clos de l’Arlot, at the top of the slope. It is named after the little passageway at the top of the vineyard, from which you can hear birdsong. The vines are around 20 years old. This is now in its tenth vintage since being renamed from Le Petit Arlot, the young vines cuvée. Tasted from barrel in October 2024. Dark berry aromas with bitter chocolate and grainy dark pepper spices. The palate is tender and detailed, the crushed rose perfume meeting fine red berry fruit. 100% destemmed.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES 1ER CRU CLOS DE L'ARLOT MONOPOLE
Clos de l’Arlot is the emblematic vineyard of the estate, adjacent to the domaine buildings and just north of Domaine Mugnier’s Clos de la Maréchale, in Prémeaux-Prissey. There are two hectares of Pinot Noir grapes here, alongside the two of white, planted on marl and free-draining pink limestone. White pepper and exotic spice aromas with fine raspberry fruit. The palate is saturated with red berry flavours, framed by fine, fruit-coated tannins. As Géraldine says, Clos de l’Arlot is always easier than Clos des Forêts to taste when young. 100% destemmed with 40% new oak.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES 1ER CRU CLOS DES FORÊTS SAINT-GEORGES MONOPOLE
Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges is a 7.2-hectare monopole, owned entirely by Domaine de l’Arlot. Whilst Clos de l’Arlot is in Prémeaux, this is the centre of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, further north, with more clay-based soils. It is more deeply coloured and more immediately expressive than the more ephemeral style of Prémeaux. The nose is violet-hued with bitter cherry aromas and dark chocolate. The palate is similarly dark fruited and briny with a serene sense of poise and crunchy precision, through to a long, powerful finish. 100% destemmed.

VOSNE-ROMANÉE 1ER CRU LES SUCHOTS
The domaine has 0.85 hectares of Suchots, just opposite Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s plot of Richebourg. Aromas of fine red berry fruit and sappy spices, this shows its ephemeral side rather beautifully. The palate is super-concentrated but maintains a fresh acid balance with fine tannins and wonderful sucrosity of elegant red berry fruit. 100% destemmed.

NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES BLANC 1ER CRU CLOS DE L’ARLOT MONOPOLE
There are two hectares of Chardonnay planted in Clos de l’Arlot, the domaine’s iconic, steeply sloping amphitheatre. The pink Prémeaux limestone contributes to this wine’s exuberant, broad, long-ageing character. Since the 2021 vintage, Clos de L’Arlot Blanc has included the vines that were previously destined for the young vine cuvée, ‘La Gerbotte’. Tasted from barrel, before bentonite fining. White peach aromas with white flower perfume and lemon zest. The palate is pithily citric on the entry, opening to reveal a precise mid-palate of sherbety energy, sheeny peach and pear skin, lifted by crunchy acidity.
