The Grosse Lage IDIG vineyard is one of the most highly rated sites in the Palatine region, making this the flagship holding of the estate. Grosses Gewächs, or GG, can be seen as comparable to grand cru status in Burgundy. 75% of Idig was planted in 1975, the rest in 2008. A flagship for the region, this is a synthesis of the former two. The exotic spice aromas had integrated nicely when re-tasted a year on, in August 2024. The palate shows fabulous bright red berry fruit, with impressive matter and presence, defined by a sappy tension to the palate, making for a focused, driving style.
