It’s easy to waffle on about what we do, but it is perhaps even more important to be clear about what we don’t do. Here is a list of our standards and principles, the things that make us stand out from the crowd.
WE DON'T ...
Make a sale at all costs.
We want you to come back for more – continuity and enduring loyalty are key.
Make investment promises or predictions.
Offer wines that have been auctioned.
Offer wines that have been shipped outside Europe and back.
Supply companies who sell purely for investment, or at inflated prices.
Cold call or buy contact lists.
Defer responsibility to critics when selling or buying:
We communicate our own view and back it up with our own money by buying the wines.
Pander to ‘fair-weather friends’:
When allocating wines, we prioritise loyalty and those who drink their wines.
‘Make up’ cases (i.e. pass off amalgamations of loose bottles as original cases):
Wines are offered as either original cases or single bottles.
Pay our sales team on a commission basis.
Talk down to customers: in fact, we rather like talking up to them.
