The ‘Very Good White’ 2022 comes from four vineyards in the Willamette Valley, at 120-150m elevation. These are Seven Springs (planted with Dijon Chardonnay clones), Chehalem Mountain, Shea and Hyland. The aspect of these slopes is predominantly east-facing. Soils are volcanic and sedimentary. Aromas of pastry, yellow peach and flinty struck match minerality. The palate is focussed and mineral, opening onto the textural VGW mid-palate that we are coming to recognise and love, with notes of those volcanic soils in its biting texture.
